About this ring: a most resplendent design…as a butterfly in the forest full of fireflies. This one is a magical portal to another dimension. I imagined a fairy door when I started the design and built it based on that sentiment of gratitude and wonder for the unknown and all measures of light.
For the pictured finished ring: There are 9 diamonds in the pictured one of a kind ring, two in teardrop forms (pear shape)…because what is joy without some tears? The full spectrum of the mystery of life as I feel it is imbued into this ring. A bicolor pink/purple opalescent sapphire is at the top or bottom, depending on how it is worn. I love rings that don’t have to have a large gemstone but rather feel like dispersed light itself…so this is my completely lovingly-eccentric daydream portal ring.
"Chrysalis" is made in a cathedral style so it easily nests with other bands, but due to the size of the design, I think it would be most beautiful paired with a custom curved matching ring.
Made to order details (your ring will be made especially for you according to your selected preferences):
- sizing: we can create this ring in sizes 3–12 (we recommend using a ring sizer to obtain your correct ring size prior to purchase for best fit)
- 14K/18K gold—choose from 14k yellow, rose, or palladium white gold in 14K or 18K (we use recycled milled precious metals)

- Pictured round stone above butterfly: approx. 3.5mm opalescent pink/purple sapphire (one of a kind; 0.20–0.27ct for the opalescent pink sapphire option); please see the drop-down menu for the many stone options available for the round stone above the butterfly; please note that carat weight will vary, but each gem will be approx. 3.5mm
- Pictured diamonds: 7–1.2mm GH/SI colorless round brilliant cut diamonds (natural); 2–2.5x4mm pear brilliant cut diamonds; please see the drop-down menu for options for the smaller round stones and the larger teardrop side stones; total pictured carat weight approx. 0.27ct (this will vary depending on the gemstones selected)
- Band dimensions (excluding the front design/setting): 2.6mm wide (varies due to sculptural nature of ring); 1.9–2.4mm thickening
- Matching band needed?: please email nicole [at] knotandsplice.com; this ring can stack with our Fairy Wing band, Waverly and Esme rings (if choosing the latter two rings, we recommend a Waverly ring as a spacer ring as in photo 5—this way the Esme diamond ring won't be hidden). - Textures/finish: The handmade textures which really add so much to this special piece give this ring a less shiny look, although it is currently at a high polish. We can give it a matte/brushed finish if you select this option in the drop-down menu.
