  • One of a kind pendant and chain
  • Delicate hand-sculpted fine silver and 22K pendant reminiscent of a tiny coin, sun dial. This piece is made to look like a relic or unearthed treasure.
  • Approx. overall pendant dimensions (height taken from top loop to bottom): 10mm x 17mm
  • About the stone: This pendant features a beautiful approx. 2mm faceted ruby from Wyoming, USA. The stone is ethical/conflict-free.
  • About this precious stone from our stone source: Ruby, a variety of corundum classified as a precious stone, is one of the world's most valuable gemstones. With its hardness and durability, ruby is an excellent choice for all types of jewelry. The color of a ruby is due to a trace of chromic oxide in the stone; the amount of this substance determines the depth of color. Through the ages, ruby has been considered to be a gem of nobility, credited with engendering sensuality and vitality.
  • You can feel great about your Knot & Splice purchase—not only because it's handmade using recycled metals, but because the stones we use have a documentable path from the mine to the finished piece of jewelry. Thank you for your support!
  • Process for how this piece was made: This piece was hand sculpted and carved and then torch fired. It's one of a kind (not cast from a mold)—an original artwork. An ancient gilding technique called keum-boo has been used to apply a thick layer of 22K yellow gold foil to the fine silver surface. The gold is layered onto the surface, heated, and then burnished into the silver—this process creates a permanent diffusion bond. Small fine silver spheres were soldered onto the pendant. 14K gold loops were created and soldered. Additionally, the stone is flush-set in the metal.
  • 18" long high-quality but delicate 18K gold vermeil chain (with spring clasp; gold vermeil is plating over solid sterling silver). This chain is 18" in length and sits higher up on the chest (depending on the wearer's neck size.
  • the back of the pendant is oxidized black and stamped "NM" (signature for Nicole Melton) and hallmarked ".925" for sterling silver and "14K" gold for the largest content of gold in the piece (14K gold was used for loops, 22K for keumboo overlay)
  • Care: oxidized sterling silver can turn shinier as it's worn and handled (the oils from our skin prevent oxidization; see our FAQ/Policies page for care instructions), we recommend you store this piece in a sealed plastic bag and inside a jewelry box to preserve the polished look. Do not clean this jewelry with jewelry cleaners...gentle liquid soap and water may be used, but take care not to remove the patina. Please take extra care with the keeumboo as it can be scratched or chipped. It is bonded strong to fine silver, but please try to keep it from any activities that may scratch it.

Please note: While every effort is made to photograph the items to be an accurate representation, photography and computer monitors have limitations and differences. Colors and brightness may vary on different devices. I believe these pieces look so much prettier in person when held in the hand and admired by the eye (I've also been told this many times by Knot & Splice customers). I hope you're delighted when you receive your special piece in the mail.
